"The Sligo Chorus", in Gaelic "Claisceadal Sligaig" or "Luinneog Sligig" is an Irish
reel in cut time and D Major. The parts are played AB.
The tune is a distanced variant of the more well-known
"Chorus Jig".
Musician and researcher Paul de Grae notes that variants of the first strain occur in
"Within a Mile of Dublin",
"Jennie Rock the Cradle", "Jacky Latin/Jackie Layton" and
"The Four Courts".
It was printed in O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) and
O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907).
